Cathay Pacific is the latest airline to reduce the number of departures or otherwise try to deal with skyrocketing fuel prices in the wake of the Iran war.

The Hong Kong-based company said on Saturday that two percent of departures in the parent company and six percent in the budget company HK Express are canceled from mid-May to the end of June.

As recently as March, the company announced plans to increase passenger capacity on long-haul flights by ten percent.

Lufthansa and SAS are a couple of the companies that have also canceled flights. A number of other airline giants from the US, Europe and Asia have launched various types of fees to make up for the loss.

The industry has warned that cost problems will persist for several months even if Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz.
