Europe has about six weeks of jet fuel left, says Fatih Birol, head of the International Energy Agency (IEA).

He also warns that flights could soon be canceled if transport through the Strait of Hormuz continues to be blocked.

The longer the Iran war continues, the greater the consequences for economic growth and inflation around the world, says Birol.

”"Higher gasoline prices, higher gas prices, higher electricity prices," he says in an interview with the AP news agency.

Some parts of the world will be hit harder than others, says Birol, pointing to countries in Asia such as China, India and Japan.

”Then come Europe and America,” he continues.
