Norrtåg is launching a special initiative for senior travel in May, with the aim of encouraging more older people to discover the possibilities of travelling by train.
The initiative offers discounted travel for people over 65, with selected departures during the period offering up to 50 percent discount. The campaign primarily applies between 4 and 28 May and covers large parts of Norrtåg's route network in northern Sweden.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to lower barriers for older travellers and make it easier for them to choose the train as a mode of transport. Previous initiatives, such as so-called pensioner days with free travel, have shown great interest and attracted thousands of seniors to try train travel.
Through the offer, Norrtåg aims to both increase travel and help more people feel confident travelling by public transport. For many, it's about discovering new destinations in the region – from coastal towns to mountain areas – in a comfortable and sustainable way.
The initiative is particularly aimed at seniors who may not travel by train as often today, but who, through discounts and simplified booking solutions, will have an opportunity to try and discover this form of travel.
