In the wake of the Iran war and rising fuel prices, Lufthansa is introducing a cheaper ticket – without luggage.

With the "Economic basic" ticket type, passengers will only be allowed to bring one small bag on board, a cost model that many low-cost airlines already use.

According to the airline, the ticket will be introduced shortly. A Lufthansa spokesperson told Bloomberg that they see a need for additional ticket types. 

The airline is currently facing several challenges. Recently, Lufthansa announced that it would cancel 20,000 flights until October to save fuel. In addition, hundreds of flights were canceled in April due to strikes.
