Bookings for the Valborg weekend have increased by 20 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the travel agency Ticket. In particular, weekend trips to European capitals are proving popular, with several classic destinations topping the list.
According to Ticket, it is clear that interest in travelling over the Valborg weekend is high this year. Bookings have increased by 20 percent compared to last year, and demand is primarily driven by travellers wanting to take advantage of the long weekend for a short trip.
– We are seeing a clear increase ahead of the Walpurgis weekend this year, with many choosing to book a weekend trip to a European metropolis. It’s about getting away for a few days and experiencing a change of scenery, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR & Communications Manager at Ticket.
Among the most booked destinations are several classic big cities like London, Paris and Barcelona, but also new destinations like Riga and Gdansk are taking a place on the travel agency's top list this year.
– Major cities in Europe continue to be a popular choice for city breaks. There is a wide range of flights, many hotel options and something for everyone – whether you are looking for shopping, restaurants or sights, says Tiyoneh Jah.
