During the daily morning inspection of LaGuardia Airport in New York, personnel discovered a sinkhole near one of the runways.

The runway was immediately closed and construction and engineering teams are on site to determine the cause and make necessary repairs as quickly and safely as possible.

The airport writes this on its official account on X.

”"Travelers should expect delays and cancellations, especially as thunderstorms are expected later today, and are strongly advised to check the latest flight information directly with their airlines," the post further states.
