Large parts of Europe were plagued by very high temperatures in June. The heat wave led to several deaths in countries such as France and Spain.
It was the warmest June ever in Western Europe, according to a report from the EU agency Copernicus. The average temperature was 20.74 degrees, more than three degrees warmer than the same temperature during the years 1991-2000.
On a global level, it was the second warmest June on record, according to the report.
