The canal boat Juno has run aground in the Trosa archipelago. 46 passengers and 11 crew are on board.
Juno is one of the classic passenger boats that ply the Göta Canal during the summer. The ship was built in 1874 and is the world's oldest registered passenger ship with cabins still in service.
“Right now, the boat is being examined to ensure it has not suffered too much damage,” says Isac Östman, assistant sea rescue leader at the Swedish Maritime and Air Rescue Centre.
An hour after the boat ran aground, the situation remains unchanged.
– It is stuck, but is not taking in water. Divers are on site, says Maria Boman at the Maritime and Air Rescue Center.
No one was reportedly injured.
