Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was also the world's busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic in 2025, according to the latest report from the industry organization Airports Council International (ACI).
Atlanta has now topped the list for 27 of the last 28 years, with the only exception being 2020, when the pandemic severely impacted global air travel.
According to ACI, a total of 9.8 billion passengers traveled by air worldwide in 2025, which is the highest figure ever.
Although Atlanta is not as large an international tourist destination as, for example, Paris, Hong Kong or Los Angeles, the airport has maintained its position through its strategic geographical location and its role as one of the United States' most important hubs for domestic and international air connections.

Dallas/Fort Worth is the airport that has advanced the most among the top rankings. Since 2019, it has climbed six places and established itself as the world's fourth busiest airport.
