Around 8,000 people have been evacuated from Rethymno in Crete due to the fires raging there, reports BBC.
Two firefighters have so far died fighting the fires on the Greek island.
During the night, wind gusts reached close to 35 meters per second.
Travel companies Tui and Apollo announce that none of their travelers have been affected by evacuations yet.
”"Right now the fire is about 25 kilometers from our nearest hotel and we are following and monitoring the situation closely. Should there be a situation where local authorities order an evacuation, we are prepared for it," writes Martina Krantz, press officer at Apollo, in an email.
