Finnair carried 1.24 million passengers in July 2026, an increase of 9.3 percent compared to the same month last year. At the same time, the load factor improved by 2.1 percentage points to 85.0 percent.

The comparison is affected by the fact that Finnair's capacity was limited by industrial action in July 2025. During July this year, passenger numbers increased primarily on European routes and across the North Atlantic.

Finnair's total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK), increased by 3.6 percent, while passenger traffic (RPK) rose by 6.2 percent.

Strong growth in Europe and across the Atlantic

European traffic accounted for the largest share of passengers. Finnair transported 945,200 passengers within Europe, which was 12.1 percent more than the previous year.

On the North Atlantic routes, the number of passengers increased by 14.1 percent to 64,300. The capacity increase was driven, among other things, by the new Toronto route launched in May.

Asian traffic increased by 5.4 percent to 148,300 passengers, while domestic traffic rose by 3.4 percent to 86,000 passengers.

Traffic to the Middle East was at a standstill at the same time. Finnair suspended flights to the region on February 28 due to the deteriorating security situation.

Freight also increased significantly

Finnair's cargo operations developed strongly during the month. Total cargo volume increased by 13.1 percent to almost 12,500 tonnes. The largest percentage increase was noted in Europe, where cargo volume rose by 43.4 percent.

Punctuality, however, deteriorated slightly. 74.1 percent of Finnair's flights arrived on schedule, compared to 75.8 percent in July last year. According to the company, punctuality was negatively affected by difficult weather conditions in Europe.

During the first seven months of the year, Finnair has transported 7.39 million passengers, an increase of 7.8 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
