Aerowash will not be awarded the planned supply contract for washing robots to British Airways' operations at London Heathrow. International Airlines Group, IAG, has announced that the final contract will not be signed, despite Aerowash having previously received a positive award decision in the procurement.
According to Aerowash, the decision is a direct result of the recent sharp rise in jet fuel prices. The economic situation has caused several airlines to postpone or pause investments and innovation projects.
– It is of course a great disappointment that this agreement cannot be fulfilled at this time. At the same time, the process has demonstrated our competitiveness and given us valuable experience, says Niklas Adler, CEO of Aerowash.
IAG opens up for future discussions
IAG states, according to Aerowash, that the decision is not linked to the quality or capacity of the company's solution. On the contrary, the airline group has expressed appreciation for the technology and the work of the Aerowash team.
IAG has also signaled that it is interested in resuming discussions if the market situation changes and budget becomes available.
At the same time, Aerowash continues to work on other business opportunities within the aviation industry, particularly in Asia and North America.
The company is also working to broaden the use of its technology to other types of vehicles, with trains and buses being identified as prioritized new segments.
