Etihad Airways is establishing itself at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport with a new direct route to Abu Dhabi. From December 17, 2026, the airline will operate the route four times a week.

The new route will be the first direct connection between Gothenburg and the United Arab Emirates and is expected to improve Western Sweden's accessibility to, among other places, the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia. Via Etihad's hub at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, connections are offered to a large number of destinations, including more than 50 in Asia.

– We are very much looking forward to welcoming Etihad Airways in December. This is the first direct connection between Gothenburg and the United Arab Emirates. Companies in Western Sweden conduct trade throughout Asia and many of our travelers have relatives, friends and family in the region. The new connection will strengthen accessibility for the region, especially to the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia, says Mats Johannesson, CEO of Swedavia Airports.

Airbus A321LR with three classes

Etihad will use the Airbus A321LR on the Gothenburg route. The aircraft has 160 seats divided into first class, business class and economy class.

“The A321LR aircraft makes it possible to offer a route that includes our full three-class product on a scale that suits Gothenburg. With this route, our network opens up the way to India, Southeast Asia and further afield,” says Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways.

The line between Gothenburg Landvetter Airport and Abu Dhabi has four departures a week and tickets are now bookable.
