For travelers who want to combine their vacation with an unusual natural phenomenon, several opportunities await in the coming years. As early as August 2, 2027, a total solar eclipse will pass over southern Spain and Egypt, among other places.

Malaga is in the path of totality and the sun is expected to be completely covered for just under two minutes. In Luxor, Egypt, the experience will be considerably longer, with just over six minutes of totality.

“A total solar eclipse is one such experience that can make a trip extra special. In the coming years, there will be several opportunities to combine a vacation with the chance to experience the phenomenon,” says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at Ticket.

Australia and New Zealand 2028

After the 2027 solar eclipse, it will be until 2053, according to Ticket, before Europe experiences a total solar eclipse again. Elsewhere in the world, opportunities will come much sooner.

On July 22, 2028, a total solar eclipse will pass over parts of Australia and New Zealand. In Sydney, totality is expected to last just under four minutes and in Queenstown, just under three minutes.

Another opportunity will come on November 25, 2030, when the phenomenon can be experienced from Durban, South Africa, among other places.

– What's special is that several of the coming years' solar eclipses can be experienced at destinations that have a lot to offer beyond the phenomenon itself. This provides the opportunity to plan a trip where the solar eclipse will be one of the highlights, says Tiyoneh Jah.

Three dates to keep an eye on

  • August 2, 2027: Malaga and Luxor
  • July 22, 2028: Sydney and Queenstown
  • November 25, 2030: Durban

Anyone planning a trip around a solar eclipse should check the exact path of totality before booking, as the experience can differ significantly even between nearby locations.

To view the sun before and after the total phase, approved solar eclipse glasses are also required.

According to the press release.
