Japan Airlines becomes the end customer in Aerowash's first order in the Japanese market. The airline will begin using the Swedish company's AW3 washing robot at Narita and is subsequently considering introducing the technology at more airports in Japan.

Japan Airlines, JAL, announced the initiative at a press event at Narita Airport outside Tokyo. According to the airline, it is the first time a Japanese airline has put an aircraft washing robot of this type into operation.

The announcement also means that Aerowash can now announce the end customer behind the order that the company announced on January 19, 2026. The deal was Aerowash's first in the Japanese market.

Can be introduced at more airports

JAL says the introduction at Narita will be a first step. The airline will investigate the possibility of using the technology at other Japanese airports.

The aim is to improve the working environment and quality of aircraft exterior washing, among other things. JAL also expects the automation to contribute to higher safety and productivity in ground services.

– It is very pleasing to be able to confirm that the end customer for our first Japan order is Japan Airlines, one of Asia's most renowned airlines. The launch at Narita is an important confirmation that our technology is up to the mark with some of the world's most demanding operators, says Niklas Adler, CEO of Aerowash.

Additional orders in Japan

Japan is a priority market for Aerowash. The company announced on March 31, 2026, that it had received another Japanese order through the same distributor.

The second order is to be delivered to another end customer, whose name has not yet been made public.

According to the press release.
