Malaga was the most booked destination for Swedes in the summer of 2026, according to Ticket's booking statistics. In total, the number of travelers increased by 11 percent compared to last summer. The big rocket is Gdansk, where travel increased by 97 percent.
Spanish destinations continue to dominate Swedish summer travel. Malaga retains first place on Ticket's list, followed by Alicante and Mallorca – the same top three as last summer.
The number of travelers to both Malaga and Alicante increased by 28 percent compared to the summer of 2025.
– Spain once again dominated summer travel and the three most booked destinations were the same as last year. The clearest change on this year's top list is Gdansk, which is making its way in as more and more people are opening their eyes to the destination, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at Ticket.
Gdansk increases by 97 percent
The Polish coastal city of Gdansk accounts for by far the largest percentage increase among the destinations on the top list.
The number of travelers increased by 97 percent compared to the previous summer. This puts Gdansk directly in seventh place on the list after being outside the top ten last year.
London also strengthens its position. The destination climbs from fifth to fourth place while the number of travelers increases by 20 percent. Rome advances from tenth to ninth place after an increase of 8 percent.
Barcelona backs down
Barcelona is going in the opposite direction, falling from fourth to fifth place after the number of travelers decreased by 15 percent.
Amsterdam disappears completely from the top ten after a decline of 19 percent.
At the same time, there is growing interest in Thailand during the summer. Bangkok is just off the list in eleventh place, but the number of travelers there increased by 31 percent. According to Ticket, this development may indicate that more Swedes are starting to choose Thailand also during the summer, instead of mainly during the winter months.
