A cargo plane has veered off the runway at Miami airport and collided with several vehicles on a road.

At least five people have been confirmed dead.

Films from the scene show how the aircraft started to burn while black smoke rises over the airport.

The Boeing 767, flying for e-commerce giant Amazon, skidded off the runway and crossed a road before crashing. Rescue workers said the plane collided with several vehicles.

At least five people have died. Five people are also injured, three of them seriously.

CNN: Didn't raise emergency alarm

Why the plane could not stop before the end of the runway is still unclear. According to CNN'sReviewing the radio traffic, the pilots did not report any emergency before landing.

American accident authorities have launched an investigation.

Air traffic was stopped

The plane, which came from San Juan in Puerto Rico, arrived in Miami at 2 p.m. local time.

The airport temporarily halted all traffic, but the halt was lifted at 5 p.m. local time. However, delays are expected to continue as the plane remains on the runway.
