Ticket points out seven destinations and countries where the travel agency believes that the holiday budget can last longer during the autumn and winter. According to Ticket, the compilation is based on the general price level for restaurants, transport and activities, among other things - but does not contain any concrete price comparisons.

Flights and accommodation are not included in Ticket's comparison. The travel agency's starting point is instead that on-site costs can have a significant impact on the total holiday budget.

“Many people compare the price of flights and hotels very carefully, but forget to research what it costs to vacation in the destination. The costs of eating out, getting around and doing various activities affect how far your travel budget will go,” says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at Ticket.

Seven options according to Ticket

Greece Ticket recommends a comparison between the most visited parts of Crete and Rhodes and, for example, Samos and Lefkada. According to the travel agency, there are less tourist-dense resorts on the latter islands where restaurant visits and other expenses may be lower.

Egypt: Ticket highlights Hurghada and Marsa Alam as alternatives during the winter months. The travel agency believes that the destinations are cheaper than, for example, the Canary Islands and also points to the range of all-inclusive hotels as a way to gain better control over costs.

Spain Valencia is described by Ticket as a generally cheaper alternative to Barcelona. The travel agency points to the city's restaurant selection and public transport, among other things.

Istanbul: According to Ticket, the costs for shopping, restaurants and attractions are lower than in many other popular cities.

Budapest: Ticket promotes the Hungarian capital as an alternative where restaurants, attractions and thermal baths can be combined at what the travel agency describes as reasonable prices.

Poland: According to Ticket, Kraków and Gdańsk have a lower price level than many other major European cities and are promoted as alternatives for travel during the autumn and before Christmas.

Thailand: Even within Thailand, there are significant price differences, according to Ticket. The travel agency states that restaurant prices in Hua Hin are generally lower than in Phuket.

Ticket: Price level varies within the same country

Ticket points out that the cost of a holiday not only differs between countries but also between different destinations within the same country. The travel agency's assessment is that less tourist-dense locations may in some cases have a lower price level than the most established tourist destinations.

Ticket therefore recommends travelers to weigh up restaurants, local transportation, excursions and activities when comparing the total travel cost.

The travel agency also recommends paying in local currency when the card terminal offers the choice between Swedish kronor and the destination currency. According to Ticket, paying in Swedish kronor may result in a less favorable exchange rate.

No price survey reported

Ticket emphasizes that the selection is based on the general price level of the destinations and that prices may vary depending on location, time and individual choices.

No underlying price research, price index or comparison of actual costs between destinations is reported in the data. The information about which destinations offer more value for money should therefore be seen as Ticket's assessment and recommendations.
