Finnair will expand its service to Japan in the summer of 2027, offering up to three daily flights between Helsinki and Tokyo during the peak season. In total, the company's Japan traffic will increase from 28 to a maximum of 32 departures per week.
The capacity increase will primarily take place on the route between Helsinki and Tokyo Narita, where Finnair will fly up to twice a day during parts of the summer.
At the same time, daily service to Tokyo Haneda will continue. This means that Finnair will have up to three daily departures to the Japanese capital during the peak season.
“Japan is our largest market after Finland and demand for flights to Japan has continued to be strong,” says Christine Rovelli, Chief Revenue Officer at Finnair.
32 departures per week to Japan
Finnair states that in the summer of 2026, the company operated 28 flights per week to Japan. During the summer of 2027, this will increase to a maximum of 32 flights per week.
The company flies year-round to Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita and Osaka. During the summer season, Nagoya is also served.
According to Finnair, the company is the only European airline with service to Nagoya.
Extra Narita flights for three months
The additional Narita frequency will operate between May 12 and August 14, 2027, with the exception of Helsinki–Narita on May 13 and the return flight on May 14.
The new flight from Helsinki will take off at 12:20 and land at Narita at 7:15 the following morning. The return flight will depart at 8:55 and land in Helsinki at 3:35.
According to Finnair, the timetable is designed for connections between Japan and the company's European route network.
