Country star Dolly Parton could have an airport named after her, according to a proposal from the governor of Tennessee.
”In a place where Tennessee welcomes the world, it is fitting that Nashville International Airport would be named after our state’s favorite daughter and welcome travelers with the enduring legacy of Dolly’s music, generosity, faith and kindness,” Governor Bill Lee said in a statement.
The proposal reflects the wishes of more than 150,000 people who signed an online petition calling for a name change at the airport.
Dolly Parton died earlier this week, aged 80, after a period of illness.
