Large amounts of snow are expected at the beginning of the autumn holiday week. Up to 20 centimeters of snow may fall in places in central Sweden.

SMHI has issued a yellow warning for snow.

A rainy weather is currently moving up in Götaland and when it reaches Svealand tonight it will turn into sleet and snow. Up to ten centimeters may fall in places, which has led SMHI to issue a yellow warning for snowfall.

”"The largest amounts will perhaps fall over Värmland and Örebro counties," says Linnea Rehn Wittskog, meteorologist at SMHI.

On Monday, milder air will push in and the snow will turn to rain.

On Monday evening, the same snowfall area will intensify and move north, to western and central Svealand and Gävleborg County. Here too, SMHI has issued a yellow warning for snowfall.

”"There are larger amounts of snow, between one and two decimeters. Locally it could even be even more."”

According to Linnea Rehn Wittskog, the latest weather forecast stands out from the previous ones in terms of snow amounts. Previous forecasts have shown lower snow amounts.

”But since it's early in the season and people may not have winter tires, we really want to raise the warning and the risk.

The snow will initially remain and it may continue to snow on Wednesday.

”"But towards the weekend it looks like milder air will move up over the country and then there will be rain and then there is a risk that the snow that has fallen may melt away," says Linnea Rehn Wittskog.
