Passenger numbers and cargo volume increased at Jönköping Airport in 2022. A total of 15,782 passengers traveled to and from Jönköping in 2022, which is an increase of 254 % compared to the previous year's figures. The amount of cargo handled by the airport totaled 3,443 tons, which corresponds to an increase of 24 % compared to 2021.
The high percentage increase in passengers is explained by the fact that charter traffic after the pandemic only started in the fall of 2021. In the winter and fall of 2022, there were departures to Gran Canaria and in between, a summer series of departures to Mallorca. In addition, a total of six incoming charter flights from Germany, which was four more than in the summer of 2021.
– Aware of what lies behind the figures, we are also positive that the recovery is continuing. With an increased supply for 2023, we have every reason to be optimistic about this year, says Henrik Älverdal, Commercial Manager at Jönköping Airport.
In addition to Mallorca, Crete and Split will also be included in the charter program for the coming summer. In addition, 8-10 arrivals with German charter travelers are planned.
