
Purchased from the Franco-Italian manufacturer ATR, just in time before the reimposed sanctions against Iran take effect.
The plan is part of a purchase from April last year of 20 new aircraft, eight of which have already been delivered. After the US withdrew from the nuclear deal with Iran, leading to the reimposition of sanctions on the country, questions have been raised about whether the deal can be completed.
Restrictions on financial transactions, raw material imports, and sanctions on Iran's auto sector and commercial aircraft purchases will take effect from Tuesday. Iran has said the sanctions will put lives at risk by blocking purchases of new planes and spare parts for its aging fleet.
