Finnair has canceled around 40 flights on Monday evening and Tuesday after a seat cleaning error, writes Yle.
Approximately 5,000 passengers are affected and contacted personally by the airline.
The chaos is due to eight Airbus A321 planes in Finnair's fleet having their seats washed with water. According to Yle, it is unverified how this cleaning method affects fire protection and therefore the planes have been grounded pending technical checks.
It is unknown how long the aircraft will be unusable.
