Parken Zoo's veterinarian Anita Burkevica is also becoming the zoo's director and will start in her new combined role immediately.
Anita Burkevica is 29 years old, born, raised and educated in Latvia. She most recently comes as a consulting veterinarian at a small animal clinic in Söderköping and Kolmården.
In 2015, Anita was recruited as a full-time veterinarian at Parken Zoo and, since last year, has been part of Parken Zoo's management team. Despite her young age, Anita has extensive experience working with exotic and wild animals.
"It was easy to accept this offer, I like this combination. It's a big advantage that I have a lot of insight into the daily operations, I know both the animals and the staff well, which makes the work we do together in the management team easier," says Anita.
"My job is also my hobby, so going to Parken Zoo every day is like coming home," Anita continues.
