Don't worry - here are the best ways to get to Arlanda from Stockholm city.
Arlanda Airport is located 42 km from the center of Stockholm and about 36 km from the center of Uppsala. Whether you drive a car, take public transport or take one of the other options, it is not particularly difficult to get from Stockholm to Arlanda. The best advice is of course to be out in good time, especially if you are going in the middle of the morning or afternoon rush hour.
If you are going to get from the airport into Stockholm, you have many transport options to choose from, from express trains, buses, taxis, rental cars – you can even rent a helicopter. The fastest is the Arlanda Express, which only takes 20 minutes from Stockholm city centre. The cheapest way to get there is by bus, from Stockholm a ticket costs only 44 kronor if you buy a single ticket without an SL card.
At Arlanda there is long-term parking for those who want to park their car extra long at the airport.
Car
It is easy to find the airport when driving. From Stockholm city center, take the E4 north and follow signs for the airport. From Uppsala, follow the E4 south and follow signs for the airport. If, on the other hand, you want to get from Arlanda by rental car, there are several companies on site, including Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt.
There are several parking options
SkyCity's heated garage is located directly adjacent to the terminals. Perfect for weekend and business travelers. It is possible to pre-book a guaranteed space. Price: 380 SEK/day if you have not pre-booked.
Express indoor parking is for those who want to park indoors directly adjacent to the terminal. It is possible to pre-book a guaranteed space. Price: from 330 SEK/day if you have not pre-booked.
Express outdoors is a little cheaper than indoors, but still has a direct connection to the terminal. It is possible to pre-book a guaranteed seat. Price: 290 SEK/day if you have not pre-booked.
There are several long-term parking lots. You can get between the terminals and the parking lots by free bus 24 hours a day. You can check in already at the long-term parking lot to save time in the terminal. The check-in machines are in the waiting hall. Price: from 580 SEK/week if not booked in advance.
There is a parking lot for those who are picking up or dropping off someone at the airport. Follow the signs for arrivals or departures parking. You can also park in one of the parking garages closest to the terminals.
Bus
The airport buses
Departs every ten minutes most of the day. They depart from Cityterminalen and have several stops on the way to Arlanda. You can buy tickets in the terminals and at the stops. You can also buy SMS tickets and e-tickets via the Flygbussarna website.
Price: One-way trip from Cityterminalen: 119 SEK. 99 SEK for adults if you buy via the Flygbussarna app or website. 99 SEK for youth or 89 SEK if you buy via the app or website. It costs 349 SEK for a family ticket. (up to two adults and three youths).
FlixBus
FlixBus runs from Cityterminalen and Liljeholmen to terminal five at Arlanda. The journey time is between 30 and 70 minutes. They travel at somewhat irregular times and the timetable can be found here: flixbus.se.
Price: from 29 SEK to 119 SEK.
Public transport
UL (Upplands Lokaltrafik), runs route 801 between Uppsala and Arlanda. The bus runs once every half hour between 3:00 a.m. and midnight.
SL (Stockholms lokaltrafik) runs night bus number 592 between Arlanda and Stockholm city and night bus number 593 between Uppsala and Stockholm city via Knivsta station and Arlanda.
Price SL: You can travel on your SL card or bus ticket which costs 44 SEK for a single ticket for adults.
Arlanda Express is the fastest way to get to Arlanda from Stockholm.
Arlanda Express
Arlanda Express is a convenient way to get to the airport quickly. The train runs non-stop between Stockholm and Arlanda in 20 minutes. It departs from Stockholm Central. You can buy tickets over the counter or from machines at the station. At Arlanda you buy tickets from machines at the landings, over the counter or on the platform.
Price: Adult single: 295 SEK. Children and young people up to 17 years old travel free when accompanied by an adult. 2 people for 350 SEK, Thursdays to Sundays. Book early, pre-sale 7 days (only online) Single ticket: 195 SEK.
You can travel for free between terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5 with Arlanda Express – the journey only takes one minute.
Public transport
You can take the SL commuter train from Arlanda to both Stockholm and Uppsala. Take the train from Arlanda Central Station in the middle of SkyCity, it is located between terminals 4 and 5. The journey time between Arlanda and Stockholm Central is 38 minutes, between Arlanda and Uppsala 18 minutes.
Price: 151 SEK for adults. Young people up to 17 years old can travel with an SL card and do not have to pay the station fee of 120 SEK.
Approximately 60 long-distance trains depart and arrive at Arlanda Central Station in SkyCity every day. SJ and Tågkompaniet operate the trains. SJ has ticket machines at the station, and you can buy Tågkompaniet tickets on their website.
Passengers who get on and off trains at Arlanda Central Station pay a station fee of SEK 120. If the fee is not included in the ticket price, you pay it at the barrier in SkyCity.
Taxi
Several taxi companies operate at the airport, but only taxis that have an agreement with Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Some companies use a fixed price between Arlanda and Stockholm.
Transfer
You can travel free of charge by bus or Arlanda Express within the airport area. If you are a transfer traveler, there are buses between the terminals after security. You can also walk indoors between the different terminals.
