Greater Stockholm's local transport, SL, controls a significantly lower proportion of passengers on public transport compared to other Nordic capitals.

Next year, SL will double the number of ticket checks in public transport compared to this year, from 2.5 million to 5 million checks, reports SvD.
In Stockholm, 0.4 percent of the number of passengers boarding public transport is checked. In Oslo, twice as many passengers are checked, and in Helsinki the figure is almost three times as large as in Stockholm.

Increasing the number of ticket checks is part of SL's security initiative. SL also wants to increase the fine for those who do not have a valid travel pass from 1,200 to 1,500 kronor.
