A train en route between Stockholm and Malmö was stopped for over five hours outside Nässjö.
The driver ran a stop sign and therefore had to be replaced.
– When that happens, the rules say that you have to change drivers. So that's why the train has been stopped for so long, says Therese Strömberg, press communicator at the Swedish Transport Administration, to TT.
The incident was reported to the Swedish Transport Administration at 6:24 p.m. on Sunday and the train was not assigned a new driver until after 11 p.m. Passengers were allowed to remain on the train the entire time, according to Therese Strömberg.
The stop did not affect other train traffic to any great extent.
– They have been running single tracks. There are delays but nothing major.
The train has left the scene, the operator Snälltåget states on its website.
