A third runway at Heathrow Airport, west of London, is one step closer to becoming a reality after the Supreme Court rejected attempts to halt the plans. Heathrow, located west of London, is Europe's busiest airport.
Last year, the British Parliament decided to proceed with the construction of the runway, which is expected to cost the equivalent of around SEK 170 billion.
However, the plans have been hampered by opposition from local stakeholders and environmental organizations who believe that a new runway would affect air quality, climate change and noise levels.
