31 aviation technicians in Norway went on strike Saturday morning. Both SAS, Norwegian, and Widerøe are affected, though the consequences for passengers are somewhat unclear at the moment, reports Norwegian news agency NTB.

”Initially, none of our passengers will be affected,” says Anna Sandell from SAS’s communications department to TT this morning.

”And potentially affected passengers will be informed by us as such. But as it looks right now, no one is affected, she continues.

She points out that it concerns a central negotiation between unions and employers, so not just with SAS. Thus, several other airlines are also affected.

On Monday, the strike will be extended when another 75 aircraft technicians stop working. Whether this will have greater consequences for air traffic then is too early to say, according to Anna Sandell.

Norwegian press contact Silje Glorvigen could not say in the morning which departures might be affected, according to NTB.

The conflict is about wages. At 3:50 AM on Saturday morning, the mediator gave up; he was unable to find a solution at this time.
