Travelers will soon no longer need to register before traveling to Thailand. And once there, they won't have to walk around wearing a face mask.

The number of Covid cases in the country is decreasing and the government has decided to lift restrictions that applied to people coming from abroad.

Face masks have been mandatory in public places since the middle of last year, when the delta variant of the coronavirus spread rapidly. Going forward, they will be recommended in places where many people are in circulation.

From July 1, travelers will no longer need to register with Thai authorities with proof of vaccination and health insurance. Instead, they will be required to show a vaccination certificate or undergo a test upon arrival.

More than three-quarters of Thailand's population has received two doses of the vaccine, and just over 40 percent have also received a third dose.
