The queue situation at Arlanda continues to improve. On Tuesday morning, queue times were 10–20 minutes at security checkpoints, and by the morning, queue times had decreased further.

– The measures we have taken have had an effect, even during the morning rush hour it was significantly calmer, says Swedavia's press spokesperson Peter Wärring.

Swedavia has increased staffing at security checkpoints and the newly opened Terminal 4 is now relieving Terminal 5 of 25 flights per day. In addition, the new guidelines for travelers that were introduced this weekend have had an effect and led to shorter queues.

Big travel weeks

– Our travelers have taken to heart our recommendations not to arrive at Arlanda before three hours before departure, and we are very happy and grateful for that, says Peter Wärring.

TT: Do you think things can continue to go in the right direction now?

– We are working towards it, but we have big travel weeks ahead of us, like now during midsummer. There may be higher pressure later this summer when many people are leaving at the same time, and then there may be longer queues again.

Check in at home

TT: How will you continue to work during the summer?

– We continue to staff up. We have some staff on the way in together with our partner Avarn Security. We have also brought in extra staff from Securitas to staff the security check. And we are doing what we can to ensure that it is as good a working environment as possible.

TT: What can you say to travelers who are still feeling anxious?

– If you have the opportunity to check in from home, please do so, keep track of all your documents and also check with your airline what applies. We have staff on site to answer questions and help. If you are pressed for time, you can get help with a shorter queue to make it to your plane.
