January 10, 2023. Sunweb Group acquires the Danish travel agency Atlantis Rejser, which specializes in trips to Egypt. With the acquisition, Sunweb Group strengthens its position in Denmark and can offer its customers a wider selection of sun holidays.

Sunweb Group, one of Europe's largest tour operators, is thus making its second acquisition in just three months. In November, the acquisition of the Swedish tour operator Airtours was announced. Now, another acquisition is being made in Denmark when Atlantis Rejser becomes part of Sunweb Group. The acquisition represents an important strategic step in the ambition to become one of the largest tour operators in Scandinavia.

With the acquisition, the company strengthens its offering of sun holidays all year round, especially during the winter, when Sunweb can now offer a wider selection.

”The acquisition of Atlantis Rejser is important for Sunweb Group. It not only strengthens our presence in Scandinavia, but also gives us the opportunity to benefit from the expertise and knowledge of the Atlantis Rejser team, which is a leader in travel to Egypt. We are convinced that this partnership will enable us to offer our customers an even broader range of high-quality sun holidays. We are very pleased to join forces with Atlantis Rejser and look forward to a bright future together,” says Mattijs ten Brink, CEO of Sunweb Group.

Atlantis Rejser was founded in 1994 by Egyptian-born Ibrahim Ramadan and caters to around 30,000 Danish travellers each year. Danes who have already booked a holiday through Atlantis Rejser are not affected by the acquisition and the business will continue as usual under Sunweb Group's ownership.

”"We have decided to gradually integrate Atlantis Travel into the Sunweb Group over the coming year, while ensuring that its many loyal customers can continue to enjoy the well-known service, product portfolio and great holiday offers in Egypt. In the longer term, we are convinced that together we will give customers many benefits in the form of a stronger portfolio, better offers and the best prices possible," says Mattijs ten Brink.

A popular destination for Danes

Atlantis Travel's CCO, Jan Lockhart, sees great value in the collaboration with Sunweb Group as Atlantis Travel will be an important addition to the group's travel offering.

”"Holiday trips to Egypt are undoubtedly popular among Danes. Atlantis Travel was founded with the goal of making even more people aware of all the experiences of Egypt, from diving at some of the world's most beautiful reefs to exploring Egypt's special cultural and historical mystique. We look forward to continuing to spread this message, now with the size, capacity and network that Sunweb Group brings with it," says Jan Lockhart.

Atlantis Rejser's employees will continue to work as usual after the acquisition.

According to the press release.
