Demand for train travel over Christmas and New Year is high and as of today, SJ's journeys are on sale. Last year, the announcement from the Swedish Transport Administration was very late, but this year SJ has received all the information and planning needed according to the agreed timetable, which means that tickets for the period 10 December – 8 April are being released as planned.
– A very positive piece of news is that trips for the entire winter, sports holidays and even the Easter weekend can now be booked, which we are very happy about, says SJ's press manager Tobbe Lundell.
SJ will change its booking system in the spring of 2024. The new booking system will bring a number of improvements for train passengers. In particular, SJ will be able to release tickets for longer sales periods, which many customers have requested.
There will also be clearer information about the specific departure you are booking, there will be a new option to pay for extras such as pre-ordered food with SJ Prio points, and it will be easier to rebook your ticket in the event of a traffic disruption.
Anyone booking journeys departing from 29 January onwards will also note that the two ticket options offered during the latter part of the winter are refundable and non-refundable. The reason is that during the transition to SJ's new booking system, the ability to administer rebookable tickets is limited, so this option will be discontinued from 29 January.
– We will return with information about when a rebookable ticket will again be offered in our booking system, says Tobbe Lundell.
According to the press release.
