This year, a record number of Swedes are vacationing in Gothenburg. This is according to Göteborg & Co's occupancy statistics for hotels and hostels.

Statistics show that the number of Swedes vacationing in Gothenburg has increased by six percent this year and 13 percent over the past three years.

– We were thinking about either Malmö or Gothenburg to get away from Stockholm and see something different and we are very happy so far, says Beatrice Linder, who lives in Gothenburg with her family.

Gothenburg is an attractive tourist destination and tourism in Gothenburg has grown for 27 years.

– We are making and have made a big investment for this summer, then the value of the Swedish krona is very low and that may also have caused Swedes to choose to vacation in Sweden, says Stefan Gadd, press manager at Göteborg & Co.
