The waiting times for booking passports are unusually long.

Now the police are cracking down on cheaters who try to bypass the system and get their passport faster.

– By people booking passport appointments, the sole purpose of which is to book appointments and hand them over to others, it makes it more difficult for those who really need a new passport and that is of course something we need to address, says Magnus Roglert, head of the administrative law unit at the Police Authority.

From now on, it will only be possible to make personal bookings.

– This means that you provide your name when making the booking. The new system is a first step in curbing the abuse of one person booking multiple appointments, says Magnus Roglert.
