Air travel to and from Swedish airports continues to increase. In April 2023, Swedavia's airports had 17 percent more passengers than the corresponding month last year.
According to Swedavia, the increase is primarily due to international travel, which has increased by approximately 22 percent compared to April 2022.
”"Growth in demand for air travel continues during the month of April despite the macroeconomic situation. The development is mainly driven by travel to and from destinations in Europe, but intercontinental traffic is also increasing, as more countries have opened up after the pandemic compared to last year," says Jonas Abrahamsson, CEO of Swedavia, in a press release.
The figures apply to state-owned Swedavia's ten airports, which had a total of 2.6 million passengers during the month of April. The number of passengers is thus starting to approach the level that the company's airports had before the corona pandemic.
”"Overall, international travel during the month is approaching the level we saw before the pandemic. However, as before, the development is weaker for demand for domestic travel," says Jonas Abrahamsson.
