Flights are out of order after this weekend's snowstorm and commuter trains in the Stockholm area are getting stuck.
At the same time, more snow is coming, this time over Western Sweden.
– It will be most intense during the afternoon and evening, says Lovisa Andersson at SMHI.
Both trains and flights are still experiencing some delays after this weekend's snowstorm.
– It is very messy for the commuter trains in the Stockholm area. It is the switches that are difficult to clear when there was such a large amount of snow, says Lennart Helsing at the Swedish Transport Administration's press service.
No major disruptions to road traffic have been reported, according to Lennart Helsing.
Right now there are three different switch failures affecting all commuter traffic, but none of them mean an abrupt stop for all trains, explains Henrik Palmer at SL's press service.
“There will be delays and irregular traffic, but there are no stopping faults right now,” he says. However, it will be really inconvenient for many commuters in the morning traffic.
Flight affected
Travelers in Western Sweden and other parts of the country also need to be prepared for some delays in train traffic. When trains are canceled or delayed, there is a risk that neither the trains nor the staff will be in the right place.
Air traffic was hit hard by the snowstorm, and over 100 departures were cancelled at Swedavia's airports, says Alma Johansson at Swedavia's press service. Not all planes and passengers have yet arrived at their destination after this, she says.
– The cancelled flights we have today are due to the plane not being in the right place after yesterday, she says.
She cannot say how many passengers have not yet arrived at their correct destination.
Today, however, the plane will take off and land as usual at Swedavia's airports; there are no obstacles due to the weather, according to Alma Johansson.
More precipitation
At the same time, SMHI is warning that a new low pressure with precipitation is approaching from the west. A new class 1 warning has been issued over Halland, Sjuhärad and Bohuslän on Monday.
– It's not as extensive as this weekend in a way, but at the same time there is mild air pressure so the snow can become heavy, says Lovisa Andersson.
The snowstorm that paralyzed parts of the country over the weekend is still lingering in the northern parts of the country, but it has diminished in strength.
– It is gradually receding, but it is going quite slowly, says SMHI meteorologist Lovisa Andersson.
