Airbnb sues New York

Airbnb sues New York City over user data protection.

This is reported by Engadget. This comes after the city approved new regulations that force short-term rental services to provide landlords' names and addresses every month. This is to deal with illegal advertisements.

According to Airbnb's lawsuit against NYC, the new law violates users' constitutional rights.

Something similar happened in San Francisco, which led to Airbnb's rental listings in the city being halved. Airbnb sued the city, which led to a compromise where Airbnb needs to register landlords in order to be allowed to post listings through the service.
