In connection with its tenth anniversary, Airbnb's CEO reveals that the company wants to start an airline.

“We're trying to become a one-stop shop for travel,” says Brian Chesky.

A couple of days after Airbnb presented several big news for 2018 and seriously challenged the big online travel agencies, the next piece of news comes – Airbnb wants to start its own airline.

The company's CEO says in an interview with the Sunday Times that plans for its own airline are not far off.
“We have seriously considered many aspects of aviation and spent a lot of time exploring different concepts. We definitely want to get into this business,” says Brian Chesky.

Cheaper than hotel rooms
Until now, Airbnb has mostly been a marketplace for people who want to rent out their private homes – and for travelers looking for cheaper alternatives to hotel rooms.

But with over 300 million users, the company wants to expand and become a site that covers all aspects of travel and tourism. After last week's launches, it is clear that the company will focus more on hotel room bookings, luxury vacation homes and business travelers. In a future scenario, customers can also book their flights with Airbnb.
