French aircraft manufacturer Airbus reported better-than-expected second-quarter results, but warned of challenges in the second half of the year.

”The second half of the year continues to be challenging, in terms of deliveries and free cash flow,” said Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, in a comment.

However, Airbus has a chance to become the global market leader in 2019 as Boeing struggles with problems following the grounding of the crashed 737 Max aircraft model.

Adjusted operating profit rose 72 percent to 1.98 billion euros in the quarter, equivalent to around 21 billion kronor, compared to the same period last year. Revenue rose 23 percent to 18.32 billion euros, or 195 billion kronor.

Expectations were for adjusted operating profit of 1.77 billion euros and revenue of 17.82 billion euros.
