French aircraft manufacturer Airbus confirmed on Thursday that it had lost orders worth a total of $4 billion.
Above all, it is the superjumbo A380 that has been affected by withdrawn orders.
An announcement that Airbus is taking the A380 out of production could come as early as the company's financial results on February 14, sources told Reuters.
”This is the end of the A380,” an industry source told the news agency.
Last week, Reuters reported that the airline Emirates – which is the single largest buyer of the A380 – had initiated discussions about withdrawing previous orders for the superjumbo in favor of smaller models.
To top it all off, it is also reported that Australian airline operator Quantas will not increase its fleet of A380 aircraft from the current 12 to the planned 20.
