Aviation giant Airbus is in talks with British airline Jet2 regarding the purchase of a large number of passenger planes. This would mean a break for Boeing, which is Jet2's current supplier.

If the information is correct, it could be about 50 aircraft worth around 5 billion before the aviation industry's discount of at least 50 percent.

Airbus and Boeing have both chosen not to comment on the news.
