The French aircraft manufacturer Airbus has orders for a total of 747 aircraft – fewer than its main competitor Boeing, which boasts 893 orders.
This is the lowest order level for Airbus in six years.
Compared to 2017, this is a brutal 33 percent decrease from 1,009 orders for Airbus. This included an extraordinary order for 430 planes placed by Indigo Partners at the end of the year, notes Bloomberg.
Airbus, however, met its production target of 800 aircraft in 2018, the company announced. This is in turn an increase of 11 percent and more than Boeing, writes Reuters.
Airbus' operations also include production of the A220 model, which it took over from Canadian Bombardier in July. The order backlog includes orders for 135 such planes.
Airbus shares were trading up 3.5 percent in Paris on Wednesday. In New York, Boeing was up 1.4 percent an hour before closing.
