Airlines introduce fee for reclining seats

It felt like it wasn't that long ago that you paid for your plane ticket and then you could just fly with your luggage for the price you paid.

But nowadays the airline industry has found many ways to make us pay extra, so much so that you can only bring a small backpack if you don't want to pay a good amount more. Canadian WestJet has now found a new way to squeeze a little extra money out of people.

They have started locking their economy class seats so they can't be tilted back. So if you as a passenger want to fold the seat back it costs a little extra. This is sold to passengers as an improved and modern cabin experience, which is undeniably an interesting choice of words for what they are actually selling.

What the price will be for reclining the seat is still unclear and it remains to be seen whether other airlines adopt this or not.
