A cargo plane, Emirates flight EK9788, has collided with a service vehicle at Hong Kong airport, writes the South China Morning Post.

The aircraft, a Boeing 747, reportedly ended up in the water next to the runway while trying to avoid the airport vehicle.

Two people aboard the service vehicle were reported to have been killed in the crash, according to the newspaper.

The four crew members on board the Emirates flight, which was operated by the Turkish company AirACT, are said to have escaped unharmed.

The plane was about to land after a flight from Dubai when the accident occurred.

The airport's northern runway is closed.
