Following the recent increase in the spread of COVID-19, several regions have reintroduced restrictions and requirements for face masks. Now Swedavia is following suit and recommending that all its staff at airports in Sweden wear face masks again.
”"It is a precautionary measure because the Public Health Agency sees an increased spread of infection in society. But we are also doing it as a preventive measure to avoid large numbers of sick leave and secure our ability," says Robert Pletzin, press manager at Swedavia.
The recommendation to wear a face mask applies to all employees at Swedavia's airports. This also includes security personnel employed through Avarn.
”"We currently have no recommendation that travelers wear face masks, but we are of course following developments closely," says Robert Pletzin.
Several airlines still require passengers to wear face masks.
”Many travelers voluntarily choose to wear face masks and we also sell face masks at our airports,” says Robert Pletzin.
The face mask recommendation for airport staff is valid from July 27th until further notice.
Swedavia is owned by the state and operates ten airports: Arlanda (Stockholm), Bromma (Stockholm), Landvetter (Gothenburg), Malmö, Kiruna, Luleå, Umeå, Åre/Östersund, Visby and Ronneby.
