All flights to and from El Paso airport were stopped on Wednesday, NBC News reports.

The reason was ”special safety reasons,” according to the US aviation authority. The stop was to last for ten days.

A few hours later, the US Federal Aviation Administration reversed course and reopened the airspace:

”"There is no threat to commercial flights. All flights will operate as normal," they write on X.

The authority does not want to go into exactly what caused the closure.

According to information on CNN, the closure was related to military activity at a nearby airfield belonging to the US Army.
