The number of infections is rising in Finland, but Åland stands out as a particularly spared part of the country.

Throughout the country, the incidence, that is, the number of infected people per 100,000 inhabitants, has been 196 for the past two weeks. In Åland, it is 10, reports the news agency SPT, among others.

On Tuesday, the Åland authorities reported three new cases, where at least one of the people has brought the infection to Åland, reports The Åland newspaper. Ferries from Sweden operate as usual for people who have a vaccination certificate or can demonstrate antibodies.

The Finnish government decided on new and expanded corona restrictions on Monday, which include slightly shorter opening hours for restaurants if they do not require a vaccination certificate.

Just over 80 percent of all Finnish residents over the age of twelve have received two doses of the vaccine. The worst-affected region in the country is now Central Ostrobothnia.
