
Alaska Airlines acquires competitor Hawaiian Airlines for approximately $1.9 billion, equivalent to nearly SEK 20 billion, CNBC reports.
The purchase values Hawaiian Airlines at $18 per share and includes an assumption of $900 million in the company's debt, according to the company. a press release, writes CNBC.
The stock closed at $4.86 on Friday, giving it a market value of about $250 million.
The airlines state that they will operate under a common platform with a fleet of 365 units covering 138 destinations.
According to Alaska Airlines, the deal should boost revenue by at least $235 million within two years.
The transaction is expected to close within a year to 18 months and be headquartered in Seattle with Alaska Airlines' Ben Minicucci as CEO.
